Image of the Day! – Mt Baldy Winter Morning

Mt Baldy Winter Morning

This was taken out of my bedroom window. What a view, eh? I did modify it however, to give it less distraction. There was a bit of a haze over the mountains the day this was done. It isn’t very often Mt Baldy exposes itself with snow. Typically, there’s cloud cover over it in the Wintertime. So, when I saw this I immediately grabbed the camera and captured this image.

I imagine myself atop a mountain claiming victory and shouting it out loud to the World.

What about you? How do you imagine yourself? How does this image speak to you? Please comment and let me know.

This is a personal project that will not show up in my web store. I do have the original if anyone would like to purchase it for their own use. Just let me know.

Image of the Day! – Poppy’s Heart

Poppy exposes her heart to all. She loves the warmth of the sun and the breeze that blows over her. She also enjoys the love she expresses to everyone who breathes in her fragrance and beauty. There’s a saying, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” While there’s truth to that saying; it’s also true that everyone sees beauty and experiences it daily. We’ve also heard the saying that we must stop and smell the roses sometimes. What do these sayings mean to you? What emotions do they conjure up? Where does it place you mentally? Please leave me a comment and let me know.

Image of the Day! – Mt Rainier Digital Painting

This image was originally made in 2011 on one of our motorcycle rides. I love the magnitude and the majesty of Volcanoes. Living in WA State afforded me the opportunity to visit them and get images like this. It was a gorgeous sunny day. A bit on the chilly side because it was Autumn.

I mentally put myself as the volcano and imagine the power and liberty I have to just be. I don’t have to put on airs and make all sorts of drama to get noticed. Just being me does that all on its own.

What about you? What’s your story? Imagine yourself and what your story is. Leave a comment below and let me know. I’d love to hear from you.

Image of the Day! – Lunar Eclipse Blood Moon

April 2014, reports were coming left and right about the “Blood Moon”. I was intrigued. I grabbed this image that night. As you can see Mars in the upper quadrant of the image, I saw this on camera and decided to include it in the frame.

I love our Solar System. I love Sci-Fi, ex. Star Trek, Babylon 5, Farscape, etc, type shows/movies. I love NASA’s Astronomy Images. I love all the time-lapse imagery of the stars.

I read a website with instructions on how to make time-lapse videos. It takes at least 1200 images to create a decent 3 minute video. I do want to learn how to create this type of art. It’s fantastic. It’s intriguing.

What or how do you imagine yourself when you look deep into the stars? Leave a comment below and share your story.

Image of the Day – Glimmering In The Night

Festival Of Lights

Just after Christmas we attended an event in a neighboring city where they decorated a neighborhood of businesses surrounding a landmark in the city called: Mission Inn. The event: Festival of Lights.

By the time we got there the place was swarming with folks from far and wide to experience the lights. I could feel the joys of elation from children to adults alike.

The camera I used for this was brand new to me. I hadn’t gotten used to it yet. This is one of the better images that turned out. As you can see from my previous images of the day posts I’ve improved my technique with this new camera. There will be more night shot images coming up in later posts.

What is your story looking at this image? Please share what you imagine in the comment space below. I’d love to hear from you.

Image of the Day – Bridge Reflection

One evening as the sun was setting in Tacoma, WA my husband, Paul, and I was walking with our four legged girl, Misa [Images forthcoming of her]. The area this image was made is on the South end of Hyde Park along the waterfront. The city created an Asian themed area that includes this bridge. As we passed this and the sun shone on it… I simply had to grab this image. It was just awesome. And if you’ll notice in the smaller version it actually looks like there’s a castle in the background. That is actually, two Navy ships permanently docked there. I haven’t added this image to my web store yet. What do you think? Should I?

The Poppy Concert

The Congregation
The Heart of Poppy
Be Still My Heart
The Entertainer

Last month we made a trip out to the California Poppy Reserve. It was a windy day. The poppies were giving quite a performance. I used a fast shutter speed so that I could grab them in position. I used macro focus on all of them.

They danced for all the spectators. Leaping about and swirling around. They were entertaining.

2014 Lunar Eclipse

This is a Lunar Eclipse series I made on April 14/15th. Noting the orange glow on the moon. Reports out are calling it a blood moon. There’s a bit of controversy surrounding the “blood moon”. This article explains what a blood moon is and how it occurs. This video shows what happens as the Earth blocks all direct sunlight from reflecting off the Moon’s surface and instead the light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere, turning it orange.

All of these have a hazy blur on them, except one. There was a thin layer of cloud cover passing. I set up my tripod on the concrete to make the camera stable. In the last two I captured Mars in the upper right corner. My favorite one is the last one. I used my Sony DSC-RX100M2 camera to make these.
